How to plan a project with AI
Have an idea and want to turn it into a plan? Choose a guide for your own project or for working with a team.
- Goal
- Help readers choose the right chapter on preparing a project, defining scope, and planning work with AI.
- Tools
Codex — OpenAI · analysis, planning, and describing a concept
- Process
- Idea → scope of the first version → one plan → first result to check.
- Result
- Two paths for continuing the work: One Man Army for your own project and The A-Team for a team.

While working on Adrian Lab, I learned that “make the website feel like an app” was not enough. First, we had to agree on what that meant: what the user would see, what they would do, and which part we would prepare first.
With AI, it is easy to move quickly into execution. It helps to agree on the goal, scope, and how to check the result beforehand. I have collected practical instructions, files, and prompts in two paths — choose the one that fits your work.
Your own project — One Man Army
Start with Prepare a place for the project. You will set up one plan and a description of the idea, which the agent will update as you work. Starter file packs are available there too.
If you already have a project, go straight to Describe what you are building: you will define the audience, problem, and boundaries of the first version. Then Decide how it should work will help you set out the user scenario and choose a solution.
A team project — The A-Team
In New product: seven steps with a team, you will find project preparation, shared scope, one plan, and agreement on who accepts the result. This is followed by mock-ups, the first working part, and checks before release.
If you need to plan a specific product change, go to From need to demo. That chapter shows how to turn a need into a task, divide responsibility, and have a person check the result.
To begin, choose one result you want to see. The relevant chapter will guide you through preparing the work with AI.
